Long live the Pope, the pope is dead
Well, not really he is still with us the pontiff.
I was just wondering what will happen if his presciousness the pontiff will slip into a coma. Who then will take command of the Catholic world? His secretary?
I believe that the pope has an obligation to all Catholics to actually abdicate now before his state makes him unable to continue his reign. I mean how will he be able to fulfill his duties of promoting AIDS and illegal abortions from a coma? That cannot be done, better he resigns now before it is to late and prolific use of condoms will be rampant on the African continent.
All kidding aside Pope John Paul II has made contributions to the Holy See, Jozef Karoly was the first non-Italian Pope in 455 years and also the first ever Slavic Pope, being a Polish citizen I feel I can be proud over this since my grandmother is born in Poland. Pope John Paul II can look back at an impressive statistic, it is reported that as of October 2004, he has beatified 1,340 people. Whether he has canonised more saints than all his predecessors put together, as is sometimes claimed, is difficult to prove, as the records of many early canonisations are incomplete or missing.
The Pope has also, amazingly enough, traveled to more countries than all previous popes put together, one wonders why the others were such shut-ins.
The Pope supported Solidarinosc in Poland during the crumbling of the "Evil Empire" and has also worked hard to reconsile the differences with the Jewish community. A good man he is, now all we are waiting for is the first homosexual Bishop, and Catholics using protection to not get AIDS becuase John, as much as you don't like to hear this, people will not use abstaining as a method of not getting VDs and as long as your priests tell people they'll end up in hell if they use condoms we will continue to see the proliferation of illegal abortions and hurt among the believers.
Sidenote 1: I had a very refreshing exchange about the non-existence of a deity with a fellow forum member on Flashback International, go in and find the thread God True or False?.. Why or Why Not? Give us your $0.02
Sidenote 2: When will we see the first Black pope? The first Gay Pope? And oh... shudder the thought, the first Black Gay Pope?
Sincerely
